Programmers top 10 sentences
1.- WTF!
The most repeated sentence in code reviews…
Original Source
2.- It works in my machine!
We all have used this one when blamed for some error…
3.- D’oh!
- Hi Homer, have you removed the debug code from production?

4.- It will be ready tomorrow.
The problem with this sentence is that we use it again the next day, and the next day, and the next day…
5.- Have you tried turning it off and on again?
The TV series ”The It Crowd” have helped to make this one even more popular…
6.- Why?
Why do we keep asking why?
7.- Is not a bug, it’s a feature.
- It restarts twice a day?!! Well that makes sure that the temporary files get deleted!
8.- That code is crap.
All code is crap except mine.
9.- My code is compiling…

10.- No, I don’t know how to fix the microwave.
For some reason, non technical people use to think that every thing with buttons can be fixed by a programmer…

Hey Alberto, this is an excellent top ten list. I forwarded this to our programmer, I think he uses D’oh on a daily basis. You can cross-post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and link back to your site. We are trying to create a directory for top ten lists where people can find your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

Good one – at drupal.org there are statuses for issues including:
“won’t fix”
and
“by design”
I reported a problem with a module in IE and the module developer replied that he only tests in Firefox, and not only won’t address problems in IE, he doesn’t care about them – not very helpful, really.
Unusual, for the Drupal community too
It turned out related to the known IE limit on 30 stylesheet links, now addressed by a couple of modules and hopefully working its way into Drupal core.
My favorite phrase? “Let’s start with the LOGIC”

The classic form of #5 (dating back to at least the 1980s) is the tech support caller who says their computer (or monitor) just won’t turn on. So, you tell them to try “unplugging the power cord then plugging it back in”, after which their system suddenly works. Of course, they probably forgot to plug in the power cord in the first place, but this allows them to save face and solves the problem at the same time….

@decibel.places:
I’ve noticed over the years that many developers are confused about the difference between “Won’t Fix” and “By Design”. Often, a tester will open a ticket on a new issue, only to have the developer “resolve” it as “By Design”. What the developer usually means is that the software is operating the way it’s written and doesn’t need to be fixed. The tester’s correct response is: “Sure it’s operating ‘By Design’…by bad design!”

You know the saying “it’s funny because it’s true”? It surely applies to this. I’ve used all of them except the “compiling” one, since I’m working with interpreted languages.
But God damn this is funny
